Aron Nimzovitsch: A Reappraisal: Improve Your Chess by Studying the Games of the Master of Positional Play
Published in Paperback by Batsford (June, 2003)
Author: Raymond Keene
Average review score:

After My System and Chess Praxis
If after reading Nimzowitsch's two books, you crave more, this is the book to use. It goes over the portion of his career after Nimzowitsch's books, though it focuses on his entire career. An interesting interview with Bent Larsen is included, as well as some thoughts by Nimzowitsch himself on learning how to play chess.

It is a solid effort from Keene. If you like Nimzowitsch, you should get it. Others could safely stay away from it and read from Nimzowitsch himself.

Fantastic Journey into the mind of Nimzo !
First let me say that this is a book for intermediate to advanced chess players. Beginner or novice players should look elsewhere for chess instruction.

This book contains many revelations of positional chess as inititally "discovered" and expounded by the father of hypermodern chess - Aron Nimzowitsch.

This book is easier to read, and more fun than "My System" or "Chess Praxis" written by Nimzo himself.

It esentially examinines most of the same topics; prophylaxis, overprotection, restriction, blockade, centralization, doubled pawns, etc. In addition, the second part of the book contains a huge collection of games played by Nimzovich throughout his career. They are reasonably well annotated by Keene with some reflections about how they might stack up by todays standards.

I would probably recommend that you read "My System" or "Chess Praxis" first and then tackle this book for re-inforcement. But keep in mind that this book is easier to wade through than the other two due to a more modern writing style.

The diagrams, binding, text , game collections, interviews, and notes are all first rate. This is a great book and worthy of study by anyone wanting to add depth to your game.

Betrayed by Love (Keene, Carolyn. Nancy Drew Files, 118.)
Published in Paperback by Simon Pulse (December, 1996)
Author: Carolyn Keene
Average review score:

A great book with a lot of SUSPENSE!!
The book Betrayed by Love is an excellent thriller with an unexpeted twist. You have no idea who is the culprit with a heart of ice. At first you have good reason to believe that Rapheal's, Angela's fiance, ex, Shanon, is behind the harrassment and atempted murder due to jelousy. But when confronted, she genuonly has no idea what her bloved last boyfriend, Angela Chamberman, Ned Nickerson, Nancy's boyfriend, and Nancy Drew are referring to. Next possible culprit? it appears as if Shanon's new boyfriend wanted her to love him more than Rafe. Glenn Mcinnes is treated like human-garbage by Shannon and still adores her! Mr. McInnes seems like a pretty innocent guy. Or is he? At the denoumont, the most suspensful time of the novel, a peculiar twist occurs and you are at the edge of your seat. You say,"Yeah, right!"? How about when she knocks the bad guy/girl unconcious and when he/she awakens they drive the automobile off of the cliff? Pretty thrilling isn't it? Yeah, overall I'd call this a page-turner, like all the Nancy Drew mysteries. Keene is such a splendid author.

I loved this book!
This has to be one of the best books in the Nancy Drew series. It is full of suspence and mystery. You will never guess who is trying to kill Nancy's friend Angela before she weds. Get this book.

The Black Widow (Nancy Drew Files Series, No 28)

Fun on Rio
This particular series of Nancy Drew books is one of my favorites because of its cool approach. I guess I was used to Nancy being corny and I was really surprised that in this book she isn't. All in all this is an entertaining story that takes place on a cruise ship, and as always, Nancy and her father's vacation takes a wrong turn when a mystery surfaces.

Great book, a lot of fun and mystery!
Well, this was another one of the NDF that surprised me (see 'Fatal Attraction') I was pleased by how far the story went in terms of both setting and plot. It was different from the usual format, and was very engaging. A+

Diamond Deceit (The Nancy Drew Files, No 83)
Published in Paperback by Simon Pulse (May, 1993)
Authors: Carolyn Keene and Anne Greenberg
Average review score:

Diamond Days
I would recommend this book to anyone who is 12 years old and up because there is a lot of information to remember. "There are so many people I have met I have no idea who has done the crime Nancy says." This means that they met so many people; you would need a good memory to remember all the details and suspects. Anyone who enjoys reading mysteries will probably enjoy reading a Nancy Drew novel. This book from her series would be a good choice to read. "Hello is anyone in here Stephanie? Are you in here?" Nancy says this. In this scene Nancy goes to the star's house and gets blindfolded, and there are a lot of people talking. She can't tell who is talking. Even though the book is confusing at times, it is a great book.

Two Thumbs up
This book is a must read on your summer reading list. When first started reading nancy drews I thought they were boring but now I'm hooked.

Heart of Danger
I read this book in sixth grade and I thought it was pretty good. I like all of Keene's books and this was another one of her good ones. I give it 4 stars.

Great!
This is one of the first Nancy Drew books I've read. It's so exciting! At first you don't have a single clue of who did it (excuse the pun!). It just keeps you flipping the pages all the way!

Intrigue at the Grand Opera

Good or not?
I can`t decide! this book is good and this book is bad! I think this book is moor like a file then a Nancy Drew Mystery. I think that if we wanted a file we could get a file. But, I have to say that this book really is quite good! ( sigh) I guess this book is a reall mix! I still recamend this! I hope you enjoy!

A night at the opera
Nancy Drew's best friend Bess Marvin is an extra for the American Grand Opera company that has come to River Heights. Strange things begin happening when the sets and costumes are sabotaged. Enough of the summary, I'm sure you read the editorial above. Let me just say that this is the best paperback I've read in a really long time, and I have been reading Nancy Drew books since I was eight (don't bother to do the math! :) To the ghostwriter: Keep it up! You're the best Simon & Schuster has had in a long time! The plot was fantastic. There was suspense and romance, and a really interesting twist at the end. Actually, this book was more like one of the Files than a Mystery story. Buy this book! You won't be sorry!
